ABOUT ME

Howdy Hi 🤠👋🏻

My name is Daniel Alcock from the North East of England.

I’m convinced that a life with Jesus has and is providing me with the best life possible! Unfortunately, with work sometimes regular Church connection can be hard to sustain. This website is a little experiment in ‘digital monasticism’, that is, trying to intentionally use technology to help foster faith through community and resources.

I completed an undergraduate degree in Applied Theology at Moorlands College and currently on the cusp of finishing an Ma study in Theology and Ministry at Durham University.

Over the last 10 years I have worked in a plethora of settings including; ‘conventional church work’, pulling pints in a pub, youth-residential work, chaplaincy within an Immigration Removal Centre, and now chaplaincy within the British Army. I’m a novice runner and a sauna pro!

When diaries permit, I’m willing and able to help at your local event. Get in touch!

What is Digital-Monasticism?

Monasticism tends to refer to monks. People who live together in pursuit of the divine, often living by a strict regime that affords a simple life.

Logistically for many, monastic lifestyles are not practice but many want to live a life seeking God. Perhaps ‘digital monasticism’ could fulfil a need. How can we use technology well to spur faith?

I’m hoping this website will provide those who struggle with church attendance, or are exploring faith, resources to foster faith. Resources may include a podcast, blog posts, and other gubbins. Watch this space.
